ゼロ・ジーとサム・ジェイは、NYCストリート・シバリ・プロジェクトや、安全ネットなしの高所でのアーベックス・サスペンションで最もよく知られています。ニューヨーク周辺では、そのスピード感で知られており、「Torture Garden」や地元のバーレスク／サーカス／エアリアル会場で、10分以内でサスペンション・ルーティンを披露している。2020年から共に指導やパフォーマンスを行っており、海外でも活動しているが、実はその裏には、自宅で繰り広げられる「熱い縛り」こそがすべてだという、知られざる秘密がある。

2018年に合流する以前、サム・ジェイは2011年から2016年にかけて、長田流を基盤とするメルボルン・ロープ道場で確固たる基礎を身につけました。彼は同道場の最初の5人の生徒の一人でした。2017年、彼は「スタイルを縛る」のではなく「パートナーを縛る」ことを決意し、それがすべてを変えました。ゼロ・ギは2017年にロープの虜になりました。世界中のトップ、ボトム、スイッチ、セルフサスペンダーなど、多種多様なスタイルを幅広く学んだ経験に多大な恩恵を受けていますが、彼女は常に、献身的な独学、既成概念への挑戦、標準的な形式への問い直し、そして最終的には新しい縛りを自ら開発し、まず自分の体で徹底的にテストすることを、実践の根幹に据えてきました。

 

サム・ジェイとゼロ・ギは、片足つま先吊りや命がけの高さからの吊りから、人気の新しい結び方、テクニック、独自のトランジション・シーケンス、誰もが参加できるアレンジ、そして固定観念を打ち破った標準的な縄技レパートリーの拡大に至るまで、世界的な舞台で共に限界に挑戦し続けてきました。彼らはEURIX、プラハ・シバリ・フェスティバル、デンマーク・シバリ・フェスティバルで講演を行い、アムステルダム、ウィーン、トロント、デンバー、デトロイト、シカゴ、ワシントンD.C.では週末集中講座を開催してきました。 また、ジャマイカで開催された初の国際的な縄イベント「Tying in the Tropics」も大成功を収めました。

Zero-Gi and Sam Jay are best known for their NYC Street Shibari project and for their without-a-net high-altitude urbex suspensions. Around NYC, they are known for their speed, performing at Torture Garden and local burlesque/circus/aerial venues with suspension routines in under 10 minutes. They’ve been teaching and performing together since 2020, including internationally, but the dirty secret is that it’s really all just about the hot ties at home.

Before joining forces in 2018, Sam Jay picked up strong fundamentals from 2011 to 2016 in the Osada-ryu-based Melbourne Rope Dojo, where he was one of the first five students. In 2017, he decided to tie partners rather than to tie styles, and that has made all the difference. Zero-Gi caught the rope bug in 2017, and while she owes a great deal to her rich education in a broad diversity of styles from tops, bottoms, switches, and self-suspenders worldwide, she has always rooted her core practice in dedicated solo study, challenging assumptions, interrogating standard forms, and eventually developing and crash testing new ties on her own body first.

Together, Sam Jay and Zero-Gi have continually pushed the envelope on a global stage, from single-toe suspensions and death-defying heights to popular new ties, techniques, signature transition sequences, inclusive adaptations, and dogma-ditching expansion of the standard rope repertoire. They've presented at EURIX, Prague Shibari Festival, and Danish Shibari Festival, with weekend intensives in Amsterdam, Vienna, Toronto, Denver, Detroit, Chicago and DC.  They've successfully pulled off their first international rope event, Tying in the Tropics in Jamaica.
